'ICE' - Keep Your Business Running Whatever the Weather
14 January, 2010 – Leading IT and data security specialist Network Defence is enabling non-remote employees to work quickly and securely from any location with the AppGate in case of emergency (ICE) licence. The remote access solution helps companies avoid the cost of staff absenteeism and maintain effective business operations in case of emergency situations.
The solution, which is based on an AppGate remote access platform with an ICE licence, provides businesses with an easy to deploy, secure remote working solution, enabling staff who are not set up with remote access facilities to access company data and applications from any location in the event they are unable to travel to or work at the office.
Shaun Roper, IT manager for Unipart Rail Ltd, said: “The current severe weather conditions have already cost businesses millions of pounds through lost productivity due to absent staff, and with the British weather becoming less and less predictable it’s inevitable that extreme weather conditions will prevent staff from getting into the office, resulting yet again in financial loss to business.
We wanted to implement an effective business continuity plan to prepare for any future emergencies such as bad weather or even swine flu outbreaks. Network Defence has provided us with a solution which doesn’t require us to roll out remote working to all employees, but gives us the more cost-effective option of providing staff with access to the company network as and when it is required, enabling them to still be productive and continue work wherever they are, without the cost of traditional remote working.”
The remote working solution unifies authentication, authorisation, encryption, access control, client control, single sign-on and monitoring and reporting into one easy-to-manage comprehensive solution. The ICE licence provides a means of scaling the solution to an unlimited number of users, providing strictly controlled access for a period of 90 days.
The ICE licence sits on an existing AppGate appliance and can be part of a company’s contingency plan for unpredictable events such as:
• Weather emergencies
• Transport strikes
• Power shortages
• Virus outbreaks
